"The moral arc of the universe bends at the elbow of justice." - Martin Luther King Jr
There are several ways in which MCC Redwood Empire partners with the community to live out our faith:
Emergency Food Pantry On the 4th Saturday of every month, MCCRE serves at the local emergency food pantry. We give bags of food to approximately 100 people in Guerneville and surrounding communities to help feed their families. The produce of our Community Garden is given out here as well.
Workshops open to the community We offer several workshops a year which are open to the community. Example of workshops: Navigating the Changing Workplace, Understanding the Challenges of Hoarding, Discovering Your Spiritual Type (based on the book by the same title), and Good News for Sexual Minorities (Homosexuality and the Bible).
Back to School Drive: Sometime in August we get a list of about 10 children who are in need of just the basics supplies to start school with. We provide them with backpacks filled with paper, binders, pens, lunch bags etc.
Thanksgiving Boxes During the Thanksgiving Holidays we bring thanksgiving boxes with food and gift cards to the center which distributes them to families in need.
Adopt a family Just before Christmas our sanctuary starts to overflow with presents for children and adults. It is quite a sight to behold. We are able to sponsor quite a few families in this way.
Prayer Ministry Outreach At MCCRE, we believe that prayer works (and we love to pray). If you have challenges or concerns confronting your life, you may email us a prayer request. Let us know if your request is confidential or if you'd like it to be a part of the Community Prayer during the Sunday Morning worship service.
Pastoral Care If you would like to contact our clergy staff to set up an appointment - such as a hospital visit - please send an email and someone will contact you right away. If you have an emergency that requires Pastoral Care, you may call us anytime at 214-205-5038. . Small Groups Occasionally MCCRE gets together in small groups, either as part of a special season or to study a certain topic such as the study of the Bible. All are welcome to join in a small group community! If you are interested, please watch the Calendar of Events on this website, watch our Facebook Page or send an email with your inquiry.
HIV/AIDS Ministry MCCRE is committed to ongoing fight against HIV and AIDS. In past years we partnered with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to bring the AIDS Quilt to Guerneville for World AIDS Day weekend. This year, several of our members participated with Team MCC in the AIDS LifeCycle event from June 4 - 10, 2017.
All are Welcome!
